Cole:
My legs were absolutely wrecked after our first 100 mile day, but after the second one (in a row), they were slightly more OK—they must have just gotten numb to the pain :(. But the result was that the 25 mile day after such huge rides felt amazing in comparison, and I started my ride listening to music as we cruised along Utah lake. I saw Sean stopped at the side of the road ahead, and our team pulled up alongside him for roadside flat-changing review lessons while we fixed his flat. Most of the team went ahead while I waited for him to finish. We started riding again a few minutes later, and kept a fast pace (or at least tried to) to catch up with the group. As we were pedaling along, a deep pothole snuck up on us and punched a second hole in Sean’s tires. I replaced his tube with my spare, only to find that it already had a hole in it—drats! I made sure Sean had reception to call our driver, Anna, to get another tube for his flat, then ditched that sucker by the side of the road to finish the ride. When we arrived at our house for the night, the Lincoln’s took us to lunch before we returned to their home to take naps and get some route planning done. They treated us to some delicious burgers, and we watched Pirates of the Carribean before passing out.
