Today we left our beautiful stay in Greenwood Village and began biking to Elizabeth, Colorado. In the morning I listened to my audiobook, Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. The book seemed to overlap with the Stanford course Humbio2B, but I am always interested in hearing about human evolutionary hypotheses. Because I was so focused on listening to the book I fell behind in riding by a couple miles. Eventually I was able to catch up to the group and we rode together to our first stop. We actually had a pleasant ride, taking bike paths for three-fourths our journey. On the path, there were lots of people walking their dogs and a couple cyclists heading in the opposite direction. The sun was bright and hot all day.
The remaining part of the ride had some hills. I personally didn’t use too much energy earlier in the day, so I was able to enjoy most of the climbs. We got to the church in Elizabeth, and they had stocked loads of desserts and water for us in the refrigerator. But before we could enjoy the sweets, we headed to Brad and Cathy’s home for showers and dinner. We ate delicious salad and spaghetti. As we were about to leave, it started raining. And just when we were going to the car it began to hail. When we returned to the church, finally we were able to enjoy the chocolate and carrot cakes. YUM! Fuel for tomorrow’s ride.
TMI Update: Been drinking plenty of water and finally have a healthy pee color. But getting a rash on my bum.
