Day 64: The Teacher's Seat

Today, we taught at the Challenger Learning Center in Hazard, Kentucky. This science center is in the Hazard Community & Technical College, and holds the annual regional FIRST Lego League Robotics Competition. We gave three workshops in three sessions which the kids rotated between. Brian's chemistry was in the main center while Olivia's coding workshop and Alyssa's art workshop was in the college.

The kids today were much older than our usual demographic; one of the groups comprised of high school students and the other two of 7th graders. All of them seemed to enjoy the workshops deeply (or at least, they enjoyed the day off from school) and overall, they were eager to learn and full of good questions. Hazard is bittersweet in many ways. It's our last day teaching (ironically, 'cause it's most teachers first day teaching) and probably my favorite set of kids.

Good luck with the school year. Hope it's a good one.
